Utilising Dynamic Simulation tools our team can create 'Real World' energy models allowing both Energy Use & Carbon Emissions to be Proved, Understood and Improved.
What we do
Dynamic Simulation Modelling (DSM)
Through the application of IES Thermal Modelling software, 3D representation models of both Real & Concept buildings can be created, thus allowing subsequent engineering interrogation.
Where construction information is not available (drawings, U-Values, M&E Plant Information etc.) our engineers can attend site to collate and measure required information, thus making the model as accurate as possible.
SBEM Compliance
SBEM stands for ‘Simplified Building Energy Model’. It is a government approved methodology that calculates the energy required to heat, cool, ventilate and light a non-dwelling.
We use SBEM to provide the following;
- Demonstrate compliance with Part L of the Building Regulations
- Produce Energy Performance Certificates (EPC)
- Demonstrate Energy use within a Building
- Demonstrate the CO2 footprint of a Building
- Calculate energy & CO2 benefits of potential improvement measures
ESG Reporting
ESG stands for 'Environmental Social and Governance', and refers to the three key factors when measuring the sustainability and ethical impact of an investment in a business or company.
Our ESG reports input into the Environmental aspect, demonstrating how an existing building can be improved via the introduction of practical energy improvement measures, such reports examine;
- Photovoltaic & Solar Hot Water Panels
- LED Lighting & Controls
- Glazing Improvements
- Introduction of ASHP in lieu of Boilers, Chillers, Electric Panel Heaters
- Increased levels of insulation
- Connection to District Heating Schemes
- Improved Mechanical Plant Selections e.g. Motor Replacements, Absorption Chillers
Using a DSM multiple iterations of a building can be run, using singular or groups of improvement measures to demonstrate Energy & Carbon Reduction, alongside predicted EPC levels.
Energy Performance Certificate (EPC)
Through the use of SBEM compliance modelling we offer Registered Energy Performance Certification for all types of buildings.
In addition where an EPC is a driving factor, improvement reports are produced demonstrating the improvement options over and above an existing base level.
Sustainability Option Studies
As part of Planning Applications, BREEAM Assessments or Portfolio reviews, dedicated sustainability reports inform the decision process, demonstrating benefits, payback periods and the impact each solution will have upon a development.
